WWO and (maybe?) WWR: The Big Dilemma

Note: This is a long post, but it's an important update. Check out our new info page for background and history and to learn what WWO, OWW and WWR stand for if you're not familiar.

Recently, four of the five original WhuddleWorld (2004–2007) team members managed to come together again after almost two decades. (That story is for another time!) After setting up a "working" channel and a  few chats getting caught up with what each of us has been up to, we turned our discussions to  WhuddleWorld and what, if anything, we might do.

We are seriously exploring whether it's doable to create a nostalgic version of WhuddleWorld—both for veteran fans and as a way to introduce new potential Whuddles to the fold. But we are facing many hurdles, and the first one is a biggie!

Some New News

Scoop Sundae
News!

Something sorta fun to talk about today - looks like a bit of a "blast from the past" here on WYR.  I mean, I know the entire blog is pretty much WW memories - but this is something slightly different than my usual bit and bobs.  One of WhuddleWorld's original staff might be stopping by for a visit.  She worked with me in the office and was a friend and neighbor back in the early days, shortly after we launched.  She was also a fan - but I'll let her talk about that when she guest posts.  We hadn't spoken or seen one another in almost a decade and then, unexpectedly our paths crossed again little over a year ago. More recently we had occasion to reminisce and discuss our WhuddleWorld days and that of course resulted in me inviting her to post here on WYR, to which she agreed! Yay!

Definitely will be a fun read for those of you who are WW nostalgia fans.  This will be our first "Where are They Now?!" sort of posts.  Who knows, maybe we can do more of these in the future.  It would definitely help out if we can grow our reader base - hopefully that will incentivize future guests if they know they have an  audience that is genuinely interested in what they have to say.

Also, one more droplet of interest - one way I thought it might be fun to help the blog's audience grow  AND also show appreciation for those who have been dedicated WW fans from the start - is to have some contests with prizes. The prizes will definitely be WhuddleWorld related - but I'm still working out the ideas for those.  More coming soon!  But for now, watch for our guest visitor!

 TTFN,

Dee

UPDATE:  There was a quick, fun guest posting with one of the original WW's previous staff members to follow this bit, but I delayed publishing it because we were looking for an image of her whuddletar from back in those days.  Unfortunately, we couldn't find any - but recently decided to cobble together a "new"-ish whuddletar for her as a stand-in, lol!  We also had some fuss trying to add her as someone who could post directly to the blog.  Figures, right?!  Either way - thanks for your patience - and I'll get the image uploaded and the post edited to include it and then I'll publish it on her behalf sometime this week.  ~Dee 07/07/2026

Who's Who in WhuddleWorld - Part 2

Continuing from the previous post on this topic, here are a couple more characters from the good ol' days of WhuddleWorld.  As I said in that post, I think the document these descriptions were taken from was some sort of presentation "rough draft" or something - but I do find the character descriptions amusing.  They are a bit "uptight" in their own way.  But still fun to visit as a blast from WhuddleWorld's past...

Quick Update Continued

The tagline for WhuddleWorld was, "A community of imagination for kids of all ages." and as hokey as that may sound, it really was that.  It seems fitting then, that the blog _remembering_ WhuddleWorld should try to keep to that as well.  No big, long-winded explanations this time - just a fun, digital WhuddleWorld memory album!  And as always, any questions asked by visitors to this blog, I'll do my best to answer.

A screen cap remembering the WhuddleWorld Portal seemed the perfect add-on to this post!

Quick Update

Life and personal stuff pushed out my time for WYR (this web site), but I'm still here.  I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and are looking forward to good stuff for 2024.  You may laugh as you read this, and maybe even think I'm being a bit of a drama queen, but I've really been going through some emotional "stuff" - particularly after I posted that first bit in the Memoirs.

Updates, some small changes and teaser

So far there have been more posts about updates than actual content posts.  Sorry.  I appreciate the suggestions ya'all offered on some of the issues I was having - I've tried quite a few of your suggestions for alternative sites to set up the blog - Wix, Squarespace, WordPress, etc.  They all have lots of good points, but I decided to stick with Blogger after all.  I think I've found a workaround for the ordering of posts too - but more on that later.

Before the Whuddles were Whuddles

As much as I wish it were different, I have little artistic ability when it comes to drawing and painting figures or objects. When I came up with the concept of the Whuddles, I knew that my horrible stick figures were NOT going to do.  At the time, all I really had was the idea of who/what the Whuddles were (backstory) and what they should look like. I also had no idea, at the time, about things like comps, sketches and/or whiteboards.  But, I was determined so I just moved ahead with what seemed the most logical plan - I began to look for commercial artists, cartoonists, etc.  I could go on and make the story much lengthier than it needs to be, but suffice it to say, those first contacts cost a bundle and produced very little in results.

Quick Introduction

After almost two (2) decades since the Whuddles were created, I decided to do this blog for two very specific purposes:

To remember, with great fondness, the concept of the Whuddles and WhuddleWorld

and

To put some closure on what has been a 20-year sense of failure/unfinished business to the story of the Whuddles and WhuddleWorld.com on my part.
