Hello from Elder Ela

NOTE:  We couldn't find a current snapshot of Elder Ela in our records, so we transcribed her interview tape below.  We're still looking and if we find it or a more recent picture of her, we'll be sure to update this interview.   ~Lou, WWC

Hello!

My name is Angie.

Many of you may not remember me, as I was only with WhuddleWorld as an Elder for a short time. I went by Elder Ela, did some moderating, served as an administrative assistant for Dee, and even did some writing as "Scoop Sundae" for the WhuddleWorld Chronicles.

My WhuddleWorld journey actually started long before I joined the team. Since Dee was my friend and neighbor, I was there almost from the beginning, listening to her talk about the game and its progress. I was a dedicated player for quite a while, too.

A lot has happened over the last 20 years! After WhuddleWorld, I took a job wiring electrical control
panels, which I did at a few companies until a few years ago. I’m still in the manufacturing industry, but these days I work in the materials department for a panel shop—I've been there for nine years now.

On a personal note, I raised three daughters, practically on my own, until 2012 when Elder Codus and I got married. We were actually neighbors before WhuddleWorld, but we didn’t really talk or associate much until we worked together on the team. We started talking a lot during our time there and became fast friends. After WhuddleWorld, we stayed in touch periodically, and eventually, in 2011, we had our first official date. We married nine months later! We’ve been married for 14 years now, and we just moved my youngest into her own place, so we are also now, officially, empty nesters.

We’ve done some traveling, both domestically and overseas, which we’ve thoroughly enjoyed, and we are planning to do even more. Our bucket list is quite long!

Like many of you, WhuddleWorld holds a special place in my heart. I loved the whimsy, the wholesomeness, and the community that grew there. Even after 20 years, people still remember it with such fondness, and I do too.

Recently, Dee and I—along with a few more of the original development team—reconnected and have had fun sharing WhuddleWorld memories. We’ve been putting our heads together and are brainstorming ways to possibly memorialize or re-launch some small part or portion of the original WhuddleWorld (2005–2007). There’s nothing concrete to report yet, and to be honest, it’s all still very early stages, so please don't get your hopes up too much! That said, if we do start working on anything, I’m sure we’ll post updates or links right here.

That’s all for now. Thank you all for making WhuddleWorld as special as it was and still is. It's the community—you guys—that made WhuddleWorld fun and special, that’s for sure!
